Paper

Hi friends:

Well thanks to Elias and my usual bad luck, I will write “about paper”, and that’s exactly what was wrote on the paper, so I’m going to speak of every kind of what we usually called “paper”.

First of all, the most basic thing that we (like humans) call paper is the simple, common and ordinary piece of paper. This extraordinary human’s creation is essential in our lives and is made by cellulose; we use this sheet to draw or to write something on it.

The second term that Elias could mean is the paper, like the informal form to say the newspaper. This is a mean of communication that we can read to inform us, in Chile there are a lot of papers, some of them very funny like “La Cuarta” or “The Clinic”.

Also paper can mean the documents of the people that are using to identify us. But the thing that I don’t think that Elias wanted that anyone write about is the especially meaning that this paper had regarding to the academic article.

So thanks to Elias, we had this minute of culture, and in a few minutes we find the different meaning that a simple word like “paper” can have. This work makes appear this simple question…¿How many different senses are hiding in the words that we use every day?

Pride & Prejudice

Hello!

Today I’m going to write about one of my favorites books in the world: “Pride & Prejudice”. This is a novel made by Jane Austen that was published for the first time on 1813, is a very interesting 19^th century England romantic story.

I like this book since I was 13 years old. I have read it like eight times, but always, at the final part of the book it came to me this strange feeling that I don’t want to finish it, so sometimes I went back to the beginning and I start it again.

Basically the story is based on the Elizabeth Bennet’s world, her education, the marriage in that period, the society that surrounds her and the most important: the relationship that Elizabeth have with Mr. Darcy. This man at the beginning was a proud cold man, and because of that Elizabeth started to hate him. But in the course of the history Lizzy understand the true nature of Darcy, and with a series of events they finally fall in love. The most beautiful of the history is that they have this kind of pure that I think that we all dream.

An interesting website

Hi friends:

Well, today I’m going to speak about a website that I actually like very much. This website is www.museodeodontologia.cl. This is the website of the most important museum about dentistry in Chile. Together, the museum and the website are a project of the University of Chile about dentistry’s patrimonial legacy that has been having the University since the last century.

The website has six different sections:

1-      The museum, here you can know about the museum history, and the most interesting is that in this section you can see many pictures about the museum’s collection.

2-      Projects, you can identify different plans of the museum, that they were involved at the past (like the toothbrush’s festivity) and know about projects in the future.

3-      Publications, these are the documents of the projects, so here you can have the detailed descriptions of these plans.

4-      Gallery, here are videos and photos of the educations projects of the museum

6-      Contact

Well I visited this website when I went to the museum, and I like it very much because you can have the explanation of what you saw at the place. I recommend you this website because it’s very enjoyable, even in the page you can see four videos of “31 minutes” that are very funny and educative.

My almost PHOBIA...

A phobia landing…

Hi my friends!  I would start this post telling you that I believe that I don’t have any real phobia, well… I think. So, I decide to proclaim my phobia, like my almost phobia.

One day, when I was a little child (smaller than now), my baby-sitter had an emergency with my sister and she needed to leave me alone for like ten minutes. Because I was very scared I went out of my house and I run thru my condominium. When I finally got to the end of the street I stopped and suddenly I saw an ugly black bird flying towards me, it was scary. But the worst part was that he landed on my neck and it started to bit me, It’s was really awful!! I tried quickly to get it off my neck and I think that I maybe hit it and that makes me feel so bad L

I don’t blame the bird because I think that maybe the animal saw me like a tree (a little one), or maybe he was a woodpecker, I don’t know…

Because I don’t blame it I believe that actually, I don’t have a special fear of birds, birds aren't a phobia for me. Independently of this, when they are flying towards me, I turn a little nervous and of course I cover my neck with my clothes hahaha.

Hi friends:

I will write about a picture that I saw a few years ago in a very famous exhibition of photos called “World press photo”. I went with my dad to that gallery and I watched very shocking photos. One of those photos is this:

This was taken in 30th March of 2012 by Ammar Awad on Jerusalem, Israel. During a protest in Israel, the border police officers used pepper spray against the Palestinian protestor and detained him. This photo for me represents, like so many others, the clashes that happen between Israel and Palestine. I think that the city of Al-Jalil belongs to Palestinians but the military control is in the hands of Israel, and with this Israel is always trying to remove Palestinians of the city. The constant harassment from the Israelis, have had thousands of Palestinians without home.

My favorite movie

Hello people of Gotham:

Today I’m going to write about my favorite movie in the world. It was difficult to me to choose one movie because of two reasons:

1.  I’m completely forgetful and I don’t remember every movie that I saw hahaha.
2.  I like too many movies that it’s hard to choose one (so indecisive).

But, because Batman it’s my favorite superhero I select “The Dark Knight”. First of all I believe that Batman it’s the best superhero because he can exist, clearly he will need to be rich, but he can, Batman doesn't need superpowers like Superman or Spiderman.

That is why I love him with all my heart (I love Christian Bale too), and with the movie The Dark Knight I was totally amazed, the connection between Batman and the Joker it’s really fantastic, they are so similar and opposed at the same time, so they are completely complementary. At the story what you see is basically Batman and the Joker fighting for Gotham City’s soul, and for the spirit of the people who lives in that city.

The principal characters of the story are Batman (of course), The Joker and Harvey Dent; this last character plays a very important role, because we can see his transformation along the movie.

Finally I can say that I always love the comic of Batman and everything about him, but this movie makes that I can see it a thousand times, I could know the script completely nevertheless I will never be get tired of it.
